International Buddhist Confederation and Uttar Pradesh Government Forge Historic Partnership to Promote Buddhist Culture Globally
The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and the Tourism and Culture Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government virtually signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 6, 2024, marking a significant step towards the promotion of Buddhist culture and heritage on both national and international levels.
A 10-year MoU, inked with mutual consent, underscores the shared commitment to propagate Buddha Dhamma and Buddhist culture globally. With the noble aim of propagating Buddha Dhamma and fostering understanding with the Buddhist Nations worldwide, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Mukesh Kumar Meshram articulated the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing these objectives.
Director General of IBC, Abhijit Halder, expressed profound enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting IBC’s extensive network within the global Buddhist community. Leveraging its vast network, IBC can play a pivotal role in showcasing the rich historical heritage sites nestled within Uttar Pradesh to audiences worldwide.
Special Secretary of Tourism, Ashwini Kumar Pandey, and Tourism Director Prakhar Mishra, joined the auspicious occasion, reaffirming their commitment to the MoU's objectives and underscoring the collective determination to drive meaningful change in the promotion and preservation of Buddhist culture and heritage.
