The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) held a solemn and heartfelt condolence prayer ceremony on 25/09/2024 to express solidarity and extend condolences to the people of Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam, following the devastating floods that have caused immense loss of life and widespread destruction across these countries.
In recent weeks, severe floods triggered by torrential rainfall have affected millions across Southeast Asia. The natural disaster has taken a heavy toll on lives, properties, and livelihoods in the affected regions, particularly in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Considering these catastrophic events, IBC, which fosters global harmony through Buddhist teachings, organized the ceremony to offer prayers for the victims, their families, and the swift recovery of the affected areas.
The condolence prayer took place in front of the Holy Buddha Relics at the National Museum in New Delhi, where monks, devotees, and community members gathered to offer their respects. The ceremony was led by SG, IBC, who delivered a poignant sermon, highlighting the themes of compassion, resilience, and the collective responsibility of humanity to support one another during times of crisis.
Participants lit candles and observed a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives. Special prayers were chanted in the traditional Buddhist way, invoking peace for the departed souls and healing for the survivors.
