Ambassador Sudhakar Dalela led the Embassy team & Indian community members in Bhutan in offering prayers on the auspicious occasion of Ashadha Purnima at the India House Chukhor Mani, along with His Eminence Lopen Sangay Dorji & monks from the Central Monastic Body of Bhutan


 

YANGOON, MYANMAR

The Indian Embassy to Myanmar celebrated the Dhammacakka Day at the Indian Centre in Pabedan Township, Yangon, on 21 July. The event was inaugurated by Pro-Rector Dr Nodhinyana of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur, who ignited the Dhamma candles. Both officials, along with the Director of the Indian Centre, Dr Surabhi Thakur, provided explanations about the significance of Dhammacakka Day.Following this, Indian Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur and other officials offered Waso robes to the ITBMU Pro-Rector and members of the Sangha attending the ceremony. Additionally, the ambassador and the pro-rector opened the new photo gallery at the centre before the Dhammacakka Day Ceremony was launched.

Kathmandu, NEPAL

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu celebrated Ashadha Purnima in the presence of representatives from various Buddhist sects and monasteries in Nepal. The celebrations featured ceremonial prayers conducted by the Theravada Sangha, Mahayana Sangha, and Vajrayana Sangha. These were followed by the recitation and dedication of prayers from the Buddhist Sutras. Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Shri Prasanna Shrivastava, highlighted the profound significance of Lord Buddha's teachings, emphasizing that the sacred Buddhist sites in both India and Nepal exemplify the shared cultural heritage between the two nations. The DCM also underscored that Buddhism has long served as a unifying force between India and Nepal, fostering enduring ties over centuries.
