Mr. Abhijit Halder, Director General, International Buddhist Confederation recently went on a meaningful visit to Buddhist monasteries in Himachal Pradesh, India. This vissit helped in strengthening the connection between the International Buddhist Confederation and some sections of the Buddhist communities in Himachal Pradesh. It also provided an opportunity to talk with local monks, scholars, and practitioners about how to preserve Buddhist teachings and promote harmony among different religions.

Himachal Pradesh is known for its beautiful and peaceful scenery having a significant Buddhist population, which is important to Buddhists all over the world. DG, IBC traveled to each monastery where he was warmly welcomed, where he shared and learnt insights about the rich history of Buddha Dhamma in the region.

This journey was not just about visiting the monasteries, but also learning about the relevance and importance of Buddha Dhamma as practiced in the Himalayan region and its importance for people in the region. At each monastery, DG, IBC took part in Buddhist rituals and learned about their traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of how Buddha Dhamma shapes people's lives in this part of the world.

Besides focusing on spiritual matters, the visit also highlighted how Buddhist heritage can be used for sustainable development and cultural preservation. They discussed ideas like promoting tourism, education, and community well-being, all in line with spreading messages of peace and compassion.
During his trip to Buddhist communities in Himachal Pradesh, DG, IBC explored their rich culture and spiritual traditions. One of the places he visited was the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School (HBCS) in Batahar Bihal. This school combines traditional teachings with modern education to help young children learn about their Buddhist heritage. His visit highlighted the importance of preserving and sharing the wisdom of Himalayan Buddhism, which aligns with the school's focus on holistic learning. It may be highlighted that HBCS is owned by IBC's Deputy Secretary General, Venerable Lama Zotpa, who runs four other such charitable schools across the country.
