The IBC sponsored film on "Kushok Bakula Rinpoche" was screened at Tibet House, New Delhi. Director General, IBC Shri Abhijit Halder, Private Secretary to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, Shri Sonam Wangchuk, and Renowned Film Director, Dr. Hindol Sengupta, shared the dais and their experiences of researching on and working with Kushok Bakula Rinpoche as a prelude to the screening.
This special documentary is all about the life of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, a Buddhist monk and diplomat who made a big impact in Ladakh. He also served as India's ambassador to Mongolia for ten years, where he helped bring back Buddha Dhamma after Communism ended. Kushok Bakula Rinpoche even built a monastery in Ulaan Baatar, just like the one in Ladakh, and it became very popular, even among leaders. When he was younger, he gathered local Ladakhi young people to protect against invaders from Pakistan. In Mongolia, he played an important portraying to the world in as to how badly Buddhist monks were treated during the communist period. Leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, admired him for his patriotism, courage determination to achieve desired objectives in promoting Ladakh.
