New Delhi, November 27, 2024 – A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on November 27, 2024, marking a pivotal step in promoting Buddhist teachings and fostering cultural unity across South Asia. The agreement was formalized between the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), and the Heartfulness Tri-Nation Tri-Services Lord Buddha Circuit.
The signing took place at the IBC office in New Delhi, with the MOU focusing on upholding Buddhist values of peace, compassion, and mindfulness. The partnership aims to strengthen ties among Buddhist communities in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka through cultural and spiritual exchanges, enhancing regional cooperation and spiritual harmony.
This initiative coincides with the Tri-Nation Tri-Services Lord Buddha Circuit Bike Expedition, celebrating Lord Buddha’s life and teachings. The expedition, uniting the armed forces of India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, covers the historic route from Lumbini, Nepal, to Colombo, Sri Lanka, traversing seven Indian states. It aims to foster regional harmony and highlight the shared Buddhist legacy across South Asia.
Distinguished attendees at the ceremony included Dr. Prateek Kanakia, Mr. Amarnath, Professor Dr. Ravindra Panth and Mr. Melvin Mathew among others. The event signifies a historic step in strengthening cultural, spiritual, and regional ties, paving the way for future initiatives rooted in peace and understanding.
